Design Director - Brand Design & Events - Adidas - Nuremberg


Job description
As a Design Director at adidas, working on our award-winning Brand Design & Events team, you will develop and direct design strategies and executions that create adidas brand desire--to grow our business and set world-class standards for the image of the adidas Brand. You will manage and inspire a team of designers to deliver leading design direction and executions that radiate from sell-in to sell-out.

Key Responsibilities:
Direct the design of adidas sub-Brands, labels, and categories across multiple consumer touchpoints, from 2D to retail to digital
Contribute to the creation of long-term Brand Design strategies
Lead the development of annual and seasonal design strategies and direction
Drive the implementation of design strategies throughout the HQ organization
Set and direct the priorities of the Brand Design team that will fulfill department, brand, and brand design goals
Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects
Advocate and educate internally about Brand Design, and negotiate with cross-functional departments to achieve shared common goals
Actively seek out new design resources and direct them to deliver world class results
Collaborate with department co-Directors to ensure effective cross-discipline communication, collaboration and best practices
Adapt Brand Design team direction to meet changing business needs
Continually seek out new ideas, methods, resources that nurture an ever-effective, creative and leading design team
Manage assigned Brand Design operating and marketing working budgets
Staff most suitable candidates in direct report positions in alignment with HR
Set personal and developmental objectives, guidelines and assess all direct reports
Develop functional and social skills of direct reports
Manage all reports as an integrated team by setting objectives, targets and guidelines to ensure smooth cooperation of all direct reports along all interfaces
Identify and prepare talents in the team for career progression within the adidas organization
Your key relationships at adidas will include:
Brand Design Directors and VP´s for the adidas Brand (1st line CMO - Brand adidas), Brand Marketing Communications Directors and Managers, Product Design Directors and Market Brand Design teams

Desired Skills and Experience
Proven leadership skills
Knowledge of marketing touch points and trends
Art direction of agencies, illustrators, photographers and programmers
Ability to understand business opportunities and find creative ways to solve problems through design
Demonstrated exceptional negotiation skills and ability to influence outcomes
Expert in creative software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator
Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Fluent in English. English mother tongue is an advantage. Advanced in another European language is a plus
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
University degree or equivalent in Design, Fine Arts or Design Management
10-15 years' work experience in the visual Design industry
At least 5 years’ experience leading a creative team
Both agency and in-house experience
Passion for the adidas brand
Strong interest in sports
