Your Opportunity

The TomTom Navigation Product Unit is responsible for delivering software components for TomTom’s Connected Navigation products such as portable navigation devices (Sat Nav), in-dash automotive systems, Android and iOS navigation applications; as well as our online assets like the Location Based Services platform which powers routes.tomtom.com and developer.tomtom.com. The foundation of these products is our industry leading navigation engine NavKit. NavKit provides a cross platform implementation of the complex domain logic and algorithms for routing, guidance, 3D map visualization, location search and map matched positioning that is required in a navigation application. Besides being a key enabler for our own products, NavKit is also distributed in the form of a software development kit. With the NavKit SDK, business partners may develop their own navigation application by building on TomTom’s expertise in the navigation domain. Our business partners are among the biggest automotive and smartphone manufacturers in the world. Together we are tackling future challenges for the next generation of connected cars and highly automated vehicles (aka self-driving cars). Our recently released, all new TomTom GO is one of our NavKit-powered products and we’re extremely proud of it.

We develop NavKit in a lean-agile software development approach using methodologies from the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Through the Agile Release Train we deliver NavKit releases on a regular basis – bringing new functionality to the market quickly that immediately reaches millions of consumers and makes the result of our work rewardingly tangible.

Within the NavKit organization we are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to work on the quality assurance of our next-generation connected navigation solutions. You will be working closely with our engineering teams who are working on problems arising in the area of guidance technologies.

We are looking for candidates with a focus on software testing and a strong drive for quality. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and performing automated and manual tests on connected navigation devices as well as server based systems within an agile development environment.

Your main tasks will be:

Perform embedded device and server-based tests, create test reports and communicate test status and results.
Define test cases, develop and implement tests and test scripts using the best practices in the industry.
Create tests based on requirements. When requirements aren't available, propose solutions.
Update and review test sets.
Perform drive tests.
Follow our agile development process and take an active role in teamwork and meetings.
Collaborate closely with the development team in creating high quality products.
Develop and contribute to long-term technical goals and strategies of the department.
Suggest process and test quality improvements.

Your Profile

Academic Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a closely related field.
Minimum 3 years software testing experience in a commercial environment.
Minimum 2 years experience in test automation.
Extensive knowledge and proven experience of testing C++ based embedded and server products. Testing experience in the navigation domain is a plus.
Extensive knowledge of testing methods, practices, tools and test automation. Tester qualification (e.g. ISTQB) is a plus.
Solid knowledge on Linux, scripting and C++. Development knowledge on Java is a plus.
You like solving diverse problems (hardware, software, networking).
Ability to work as a part of a self-organizing team in which you determine your tasks on a daily basis – that includes handling multiple tasks at the same time and working in a lively environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with developers, product managers and other team members.
Good written and oral language skills in English.
Driving license is required.
