Job description
Essential Functions:
• Direct management responsibility for Operations to Eaton standards and achievement of specific operational KPI’s (Service, cost productivity, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, sourcing, quality, environment, health and safety, inventory, warehousing and distribution)
• Provides direct management of the FHF and FBT operations teams on all aspects related to the manufacturing and controlling of production to fulfill our customers’ needs in the most efficient and profitable way
• Directs and develops the team, operating procedures and standard work to ensure customer service performance measured through quality, cost and delivery is continuously improved
• Drives to meet the On Time Delivery targets by putting in place the required production capacity, resources and systems
• Co-ordinates the activities of the team to optimize cost performance of the plant, optimizing operating working capital usage and minimizing waste
• Interacts closely with the worldwide Hazardous Area Communications and Cooper Crouse Hinds operations teams
• Manages all aspects of the internal and external supply chain to maximize material availability for customer orders whilst minimizing cost and inventory
• Provides design for manufacturing input at early stages in the New Product Development process. Co-ordinates with New Product Development Team to implement new and revised designs through developing effective processes to optimize cost and quality
• Plans to exceed targets and to implement improvements in both customer service levels and costs to provide product to customers
• Drives the implementations of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, VAVE and Six Sigma (MVP) methodology in FHF, strive for world class manufacturing standards, visual management and achievement of cost productivity targets
• Deliver effective processes to achieve sourcing savings, material management and inventory management to support business and divisional requirements
• Drives quality improvement in manufacturing and management systems
• Develops an environment conducive to personal learning and development ensuring all team members are fully informed and equipped to deliver maximum performance. Provides succession for key roles and strives for continuous performance improvement
• Ensures that all plant processes and activities are managed in a manner which maximizes team member safety and complies with all relevant environmental and Health & Safety Legislation
• Develops data collection, analysis and delivers plans for improvement across the operation
• Drives Environmental Health & Safety (MESH) program throughout the Operations team and develops a strong EH&S culture
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
• Degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent
• Experience is required of operations management with significant cost centre accountability with demonstrable history of year on year cost productivity and margin improvement
• Experience required of managing teams of both hourly paid and professional people, demonstrable people development and consistent labor productivity improvement
• Experience and detailed understanding is required of complex manufacturing systems, particularly MRP and JIT. Understanding of ERP systems is essential, Experience and understanding of the World Class manufacturing techniques associated with Lean and Six Sigma essential
• Experience with Supply Chain management, low cost country sourcing and supplier selection and development are essential
• Experience of HR management and employment legislation essential
• Experience of Financial management and legislation including P&L accountability
• Experience is required of medium to low volume, high variety, light assembly operations preferably in the electronics sector, knowledge in wiring technologies electrical cabinets
• Evidence of continuous career development and promotion essential
• Fluent in English and German, other languages advantageous
• SAP preferable
